About Us
Company Overview
Independence Home Care, Inc. was established to meet the growing demand for non-medical senior home care services in Massachusetts. As the “baby-boomers” age, seniors, individuals requiring post-surgical assistance, and others, often require help with personal care needs, light housekeeping chores, and companionship on a temporary or more permanent basis.
We offer a wide range of individually tailored personal, home helper, and companionship services, which allow our clients to live independently in the comfort of their own homes. Presently our agency services cities and towns located in Eastern Massachusetts.
The Caregivers at Independence Home Care are experienced, dedicated, and compassionate individuals who are extensively screened, trained, and bonded. Clients and/or their families or guardians will meet with potential care givers prior to the commencement of services. This will help to ensure a healthy and compatible client/care giver relationship. It is our agency's goal to provide client families with peace-of-mind that their loved ones are being well-cared for in their absence.
Management Team
Joan M. Farahmand, BSBA; M Ed, Merrimack College/CSA
Joan is the mother of three daughters and has worked in the financial services and teaching fields. After helping to care for her father through a terminal illness and for her elderly mother prior to her death, Joan saw the need for respite care and home care services. Her family wanted to keep their parents at home, but needed assistance in order to ensure they were properly cared for and comfortable. Joan co-founded Independence Home Care after recognizing the tremendous need for such services through her own experiences. She is a Certified Senior Advisor.
Ann O’Connor,RN, BSN, Boston College
Ann has over 25 years of nursing experience working in nursing home, hospital and home health care settings. She is the mother of six children and the aunt of Patrick O’Connell. Ann was the primary caregiver for her mother following her recent illness. She understands very well how difficult it is to juggle the care of a growing family and someone who is very ill. Ann used a home health care agency to help care for her mother and to provide respite care when she needed to be away. She also recognizes the limitations imposed by the Medicare and Medicaid programs and the benefits of utilizing a private pay agency.
Patrick O’Connell, BSBA, Boston College
Patrick has an extensive background in business management and development. Patrick also had personal experiences with family members who needed recuperative care at home after suffering critical illnesses. Recently, he saw his father’s family deal with the stress of caring for his grandmother, who was recovering from a life-threatening illness. She needed at-home assistance with some of the activities of daily living until she was well enough to care for herself. Patrick is one of the founders of IHI.
