Council on Aging - A Wealth of Knowledge

Over the past few weeks, our office staff has been visiting the local Councils on Aging. We have been so impressed by what we have seen. The mission of the council is “to improve the lives of older Americans” as stated on the website for the National Council on Aging. That statement is very evident in each and every Senior Center that we have been invited to visit. They improve the lives of older Americans by joining forces between non-profit organizations, businesses, and our government to create solutions to the challenges that aging brings. The COA assists seniors with job opportunities, benefits, improving their health, remaining active in the community and thus living independently. Their services include many of the following and more: transportation services, outreach programs, adult day care, meals on wheels, lunch groups, exercise, dance, art, computer classes and support groups just to name a few! The volunteers have been helpful and cheerful. The atmosphere is pleasant and inviting. So if you are a senior or know one who would benefit from the socialization of a senior center, contact your local chapter of the Council on Aging. www.mcoaonline.com
