Early detection and treatment of a stroke can save a life!

There are 4 simple steps that everyone should know to help someone who may be having a stroke get immediate help. Remember, a bystander’s help in this situation is very important. Since strokes affect the brain, the person having the stroke might not be able to advocate for themselves. Therefore, knowing some of the warning symptoms can save a life.
If someone you are with is suddenly unable to move an arm or leg, is unable to talk, or has a drooping side to their facial expression then you need to get help immediately.
S-The “S” stands for “smile”. Ask the person to smile and notice if they can smile with both sides of their mouth. Is it straight?
T-The “T” stands for “talk”. Ask the person to tell you a simple sentence. Is it coherent?
R-The “R” stands for “raise”. Can the person raise both arms equally above their head?
O-The “O” stands for stick “OUT” your tongue. Is it straight?
If the person you are evaluating answers NO to any one of these questions, then emergency medical assessment and treatment should be obtained immediately! Call 911.
Remember, early medical treatment within 3 hours of the start of symptoms can prevent a lifetime of disability or even death.
