Ten Things to Contemplate When Looking at a Long Term Senior Living Facility
1. Do you know what type of Senior Living is most appropriate? Examples: Independent Living (such as a 55+ Community), Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing Home, or a Group Home Setting
2. Who and how many people work at these Communities?
How many people are available not just during the daytime but also evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays? What are their qualifications?
3. What is the employee turnover rate? Are the people working there happy?
4. Is it clean and pleasantly decorated with common areas to sit and gather with friends?
5. Do they offer food and what is the availability and cost of that food?
6. Is there a safe access to the outside for fresh air and walking? Who controls the air conditioning and heat of your private living area?
7. Is it pet friendly? You may or may not like this option.
8. Do they offer activities on site and do they offer any transportation?
9. Are the residents that you meet there happy and pleasant?
10. How do you personally feel when you visit this new type of living community?

Number 7
I lived my whole life with pets, they are important for the health of us all, especially in an age where health is most important. So yes it should be an option for every senior living community.

senior retirement
Yeah I agree. I noticed with this economy it is critical to move into a financial strong management company. I've seen as a care manager too many people moving into locations and come to find out new management comes in and all new people show up and there is a price increase. Don't forget to ask about percentage of price increase each year. www.silvercensus.com
