Tips for Senior Travelers

The Holidays are an excellent time for travel. Whether you are visiting the grandchildren or planning a vacation, travel can be a wonderful opportunity for seniors. Some tips to remember to make the most of your trip include a little preparation ahead of time. The most crowded days for travelling are the Wednesday prior to a holiday and the Sunday after a holiday. Travelling during peak days are more stressful and may expose oneself to many more viruses than travelling during days that are less crowded. With the flu season upon us, you may want to keep this in mind when scheduling any air travel. Keeping disinfectant hand wipes with you are also a good protection against germs. Packing needed personal items well in advance of departure also relieves that last minute stress that happens all too often for travelers. Consider mailing gifts to your destination well in advance of your departure. This will lighten your luggage and you will have one less thing to deal with at the last minute. When travelling by air, keep your daily medications with you in a carry-on bag in case your checked luggage is delayed at the airport. That way you won’t be put off schedule with your medication regime. Remember, being well rested prior to your journey will increase your endurance and be a great benefit to the start of your vacation
